Diversity
The BC Public Service recognizes that with diversity comes unique styles, perspectives, beliefs and creativity. Our workforce needs to be as diverse as British Columbians we serve to better understand the people we work for.
Our environment of dignity, respect and collaboration has grown with the success of the BC Public Service. And now, more than ever, our focus on inclusion is embedded in our business as the need to innovate and rethink becomes increasingly important to our modern workforce.
One way we're encouraging diversity in our workforce is the Aboriginal Youth Internship Program—a 12-month paid internship designed to introduce young Aboriginal people to public service career opportunities.
The program combines professional experience and leadership development with mentoring, networking and cultural support.

Accommodation
The BC Public Service is committed to removing barriers that restrict or inhibit the employment of groups identified under the Human Rights Code. This commitment includes reasonable accommodation so applicants with disabilities can fairly compete for positions in our organization.
There are more than 200 occupations in the BC Public Service, each with unique requirements. Because of the variety of requirements, reasonable accommodation of an applicant's disability in the screening and interview process must be considered on an opportunity-by-opportunity basis.
Some examples of accommodation during the recruitment process include:
